"But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." (Hebrews 11:6)
God has determined that faith is the nature of man's relationship with God. He provides revelation and confirmation of His will and then expects you and me to trust Him and live according to that revelation.
More than believing that He is (in His existence) it is believing that He is the rewarder of those who seek Him. God expects us to seek, desire, and pursue Him. We must diligently seek Him. We must, with persistence and serious effort, seek Him and His way. This we do, trusting that He will reward - abundantly reward - His faithful.
You cannot tell God what to do. Seek God on His terms. He has made Himself abundantly available.
